All aerodromes on the APY Lands fall under the category of ‘other aerodromes’ which means planes cannot carry more 30 passengers and are not required to have a manual or safety management system although weekly Aerodrome Safety Reports are sent to operators as required under Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Part 139. Aerodrome details are not published in the En Route Supplement Australia (ERSA)/Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).
RASAC provides general maintenance of aerodromes based within the APY Lands, including:
- Checking lighting, fencing and access points
- Checking windsock and area
- Keeping aerodrome in a neat and tidy condition
- Reporting any issues, maintenance or capital upgrade matters to the South Australian Government for repairs.
